The Royal Sonesta Kauai Resort Lihue, Lihue

I recently stayed at this hotel and was really disappointed with a few aspects. The lack of housekeeping during my two-week stay was unacceptable, resulting in a buildup of garbage and unclean bathroom. On the brighter side, the gardens were relaxing and I loved the upgrade upon arrival. However, I expected more convenience for the price I was paying.

I just returned from a wonderful five-night stay at this hotel, where my husband and I loved every moment! The atmosphere is gorgeous, filled with daily events and activities, keeping us entertained whenever we chose to relax by the beautiful pool or the beach. While the rooms could use a bit of updating, the staff made our experience truly special with their thoughtful recommendations and friendliness. On the flip side, we noticed that the beach area can be crowded due to the nearby cruise ship port, which detracted from the serene experience we were hoping for.

I had a fantastic 10-day stay at this hotel in February, enjoying an oceanfront one-bedroom suite with breathtaking views. The staff was exceptional, always pleasant and helpful, making my experience even more special. However, while the room setup was great, it felt slightly outdated and could use a little modernization, especially in terms of air conditioning performance, which struggled to keep the temperature comfortable at night.

This resort boasts striking oceanfront views and impressive gardens, but my experience was tainted by noise and concerns over safety. While the property is expansive and beautiful, the dining options are lacking, and the nearby airport can make for a noisy stay. Overall, it's a mixed bag that may not be suitable for everyone.

The resort has stunning grounds with beautiful gardens, spacious pools, and a lovely view of the bay. The housekeeping staff truly went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, which created a welcoming atmosphere. However, the in-house dining left much to be desired and the air conditioning issues were quite inconvenient. With a few upgrades and improvements, this place could be incredible.
